I’m the Chair of Longmont Chamber of Commerce’s new Young Professional’s group, Nexus. Full time, I’m a preflight specialist at StickerGiant. I moved to Colorado from South Dakota in May 2018 so I’m still learning the area.

Moving to Colorado, I didn’t know anybody but a few friends in the Denver area. I made friends at work but I wanted to meet more people outside of work. Personally I find it be overwhelming to go out to places alone. This is when I decided to look into Young Professionals.

Back in Spearfish, SD, I attended the Young Professional events as my best friend was one of the organizers. With a quick search online, I discovered the neXt Young Professionals group and I attended the next mixer. The group’s purpose is to bring working, young, like-minded people of a community together. The mixers are full of people who oftentimes don’t know anybody else, which I feel makes it easier to go alone. From attending more YP events, I discovered businesses I’d never go to on my own.

I’m excited to say that we’ve pushed the restart button on the group. The new planning committee has redefined the goals of LACC’s Young Professional group. The name Nexus shares our goals which is keeping the connection between young professionals and the community.

We are launching our first mixer on June 5th at Wibby Brewing from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. All young professionals are welcome to attend for free, and for 2019 we’re opening the group up to young professionals that may not yet be part of the Chamber. Grab your coworkers, your friends, or please come alone! We are excited to meet everyone, learn about each other’s companies, and hangout with the Wibby crew.

See you on Wednesday, June 5th at Wibby!
