2026 Legislative End-of-Session Report
Federal politics continue to ripple through Colorado’s political landscape, as the Second Regular Session of the 75th Colorado General Assembly made clear. While President Trump and congressional Republicans work to reshape policy at the national level, Colorado’s Democratic majorities position themselves as a counterbalance. Democrats have controlled Colorado continuously since 2018 — when the first Trump midterm election flipped the state — and their trifecta of the Colorado House, Colorado Senate, and Governor’s Office has allowed them to pass sweeping legislation across nearly every policy area. However, as often happens under prolonged single-party rule, dissent has begun to emerge from within the party itself. Legislators on both sides are now fighting for “the heart of their party,” a dynamic in full swing as Colorado transitions from a prominent swing state into one waging its political battles internally.

Education & Workforce Development
Education is crucial to the support of a local economy. We support broad based educational opportunities that provide students with experience and professional skills for occupations that both interest them and provide economic opportunity. In addition, we support the specialization of skills needed in a competitive global workforce.
Energy & Environment
We support a balance of energy enterprises that provide accessible and reliable energy while creating jobs, is environmentally responsible and has a long term approach that does not create significant cost or reliability burdens to local businesses.
Transportation & Infrastructure
We support multi-modal transportation options providing quality accessibility for all Longmont residents. Transportation and infrastructure initiatives should provide clearly defined visions with defined solutions and achievable timelines that support workforce mobility and career opportunities.
Taxes & Regulations
We believe in equitable taxation and business regulation can be used as a strategic investment in pursuing quality of life providing a net positive for the local economy. It is critical that taxation and regulation proposals when implemented, have measurable timelines and objectives.
