Crayons to Calculators encourages community members to pack backpacks for St. Vrain Valley Students

There are over 9,000 children in the St. Vrain Valley School District on the federal lunch assistance program, a common indicator of family poverty.  Many of these children routinely start school without basic school supplies for learning.
Last year, through the Crayons to Calculators program, the Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley provided approximately 5,000 backpacks filled with grade appropriate school supplies to ensure that an increasing number of our students have the supplies they need to succeed.  This year’s goal is to surpass that by the start of school in August.
Crayons to Calculators invites businesses, organizations, and community members to volunteer throughout the month of July organizing school supplies and packing backpacks for elementary, middle, and high school students in the St. Vrain Valley school district.  Volunteers can sign up alone or with a group of up to 20 people. Sign up is done through VolunteerSpot at or by going to the Crayons to Calculators page on our website, .  We encourage volunteers to sign up as early as possible.  Any inquiries or questions should go to our 2015 Summer Intern, Alexis Nehls.  She can be reached by email at or by phone at 720-652-8208.
