A Growing
Community

Longmont has long had a pioneering spirit, a bootstrapping mentality, and a nationally recognized innovative drive. In 2018 alone, Longmont was recognized as having the fastest internet in the country, was named the 2nd best city in America for STEM workers, and received for the second time the prestigious All-American City Award, having previously won in 2006.

When Longmont was founded in 1871, the population was  fewer than 400 people and the economy relied entirely on agriculture. In the 150 years since, the population has grown to nearly 100,000 and our ambitions have grown with it. Longmont is truly ahead of the curve in technological innovation with the second highest number of patents per capita of any city in the nation. Though the community is growing, Longmont has retained its classic small-town feel.

A Vibrant
Community

The vibrant community of Longmont contributes to a unique cultural and business ecosystem. Longmont strikes a beautiful balance between upbeat and energetic, with an active downtown community and exciting festival scene, and laid-back and serene, with gorgeous views of the mountains and easy access to hiking, biking, paddle-boarding and more.

Longmont has more than 10 craft breweries, a growing and thriving art and music scene, and an eccentric community of entrepreneurs and technological innovators. Our city is also home to TinkerMill, the largest makerspace in the Rocky Mountain region.

A Welcoming
Community

Longmont is a diverse and multicultural city, and there’s little reason to question our city’s motto: “You Belong in Longmont”. We are a welcoming and collaborative community, making it easy to make connections and thrive. The many nonprofit, civic and cultural organizations of Longmont welcome new people to become involved, and there is opportunity to find others with whom to share almost any interest.

Our dynamic community is located along the northern front range of Colorado. The Rocky Mountains rise dramatically to the west of the city, and the great plains and agricultural fields stretch endlessly to the east. Longmont and the front range are known for a mild four-season climate, 300 days of sunshine a year, beautiful views and an impressive array of outdoor recreation possibilities.
